My Story

My name is Yi Yuan, though many know me as Rachel — a name I adopted during my very first English lesson at school.

Originally from China, I have been living in the UK since 2009, and the beautiful city of Bath has become my second home.

My inspiration comes from my surroundings, the stories of the people I meet, and the rich traditions of Chinese art and folk craft. I have loved drawing, painting, and creating with my hands for as long as I can remember.

In recent years, my artistic practice has focused on paper cutting and origami, two art forms that reflect both my cultural heritage and my passion for storytelling through texture, light, and form.

I hold a BA in Chinese Traditional Painting from China and an MA in Photojournalism from Australia, experiences that shape the way I see and tell stories through my art.
